Tasting Notes: Fermented entirely with wild yeast from the skins of second-use Cabernet Sauvignon grape pomace sourced from Ursa Major Winery in the Okanagan and refermented in the can with locally-made wildflower honey. Pours a plum pink with a prominent rosy head. Enjoy aromas of cherry candy, watermelon rind and rose petals, followed by flavours of juicy watermelon and ripe red currant with a soft minerality and smooth natural carbonation.

DARK ROOM #1 – A BLEND OF WHISKEY BARREL AGED IMPERIAL STOUTS

Tasting Notes: This first release stout was brewed with a mix of barley, oat, wheat and rye to create a rich, full-bodied beer. After fermentation, the base of this beer was transferred into recently emptied Canadian Whiskey barrels from Odd Society and Okanagan Spirits for 12 months deeply developing robust aromas of coconut, vanilla and rich chocolate with a complex undertone of whiskey and toasted oak. Indulge in decadent flavours of fudge brownies, caramelized brown sugar and honey spiced whiskey.

MARE OSCURA KELP BALTIC PORTER

Tasting Notes: Mare Oscuro, or Dark Sea in Italian, highlights the terroir of coastal British Columbia. In collaboration with our friend North Pacific Kelp, we utilized four different varieties of kelp locally sourced from Haida Gwaii to create a unique take on a classic Baltic Porter. Made for the winter, this high strength porter was adopted by the Baltic countries from England who began fermenting with lager yeast as it was well suited for the colder climates. The use of kelp in both the mash and whirlpool provides a distinct sea-like saltiness and earthy aromatics with a pleasant minerality. Dive into aromas of dark chocolate covered cherries and sea foam with a robust malt character and bask in the flavours of salted toffee and medium roasted coffee with an expressive umami character. From the Baltic Sea to the beaches of Haida Gwaii, Mare Oscuro is shore to be your fireside companion through the coming dark days of winter.

ANIMALE HOUSE – 8th Anniversary Release

Tasting Notes: We had to ask ourselves, how do we take our Animale series to the next level for our 8th anniversary? We figured this special release absolutely requires a wild amount of unconventional hop products, a menagerie of ingredients you’ve never tasted before today. So, welcome to the “Animale House” party – a celebration of everything we’ve learned over the last eight years while experimenting with hop-forward beer. Made with a heavy oat and wheat base for a pillowy body and jam packed with the juiciest hops on planet earth. Chinook Incognito was added on the hot side, then we fermented with a heavily thiolized yeast strain and dry-hopped with loads of Citra, Mosaic, Sabro, and Citra Lupomax. Expect amplified flavours and aromas of orange juice, guava, and pineapple – fresh from the punch bowl. But wait, the party is just getting started! We also injected a new hop product called Cosmic Guava Euphorics after fermentation to load it with as much tropical fruit character as humanly possible.

SIRIO GERMAN STYLE ALTBIER

Tasting Notes: Benvenuto a Sirio, our ‘new’ take on a traditional Altbier of ‘old’ that hails from the valleys of Rhineland. Made collaboratively as a farewell to our good friend Andrea, who made the trek all the way from Italy to spend the summer here at Luppolo. Paying homage to Andrea’s nonno Sirio, this beer is made with premium Italian barley and a blend of Munich malts. Sirio was single decocted for added malt depth, gently hopped with Hallertau and fermented with a classic German ale yeast. Expect aromas of freshly baked panettone, fig jam, and turbinado sugar with scrumptious flavours of honey and dates. Medium bodied with a delicate bitterness and a dry crisp finish, this altbier is as inviting as it is crushable. Andrea you will always be famiglia and we are proud to share this beer on your behalf.
